A BRIEF HISTORY OF FASHION OPTICAL DISPLAYS

In 1978, Fashion Optical Displays was founded by Jay Blaut, a woodworker, in a small garage in Chico, CA. He had placed an ad in the local paper for cabinetmaking and a local optician ordered some displays for his dispensary.

The displays were such a success that he referred other local opticians and optometrists to Jay’s cabinet shop. The business grew and, hence, the company’s name originated from that first office Jay did… “Fashion Optical Displays.”

A year later, Cherie Smyzer joined the partnership and the decision was made to advertise Fashion Optical Displays nationally. The rest, as they say, is history.

With over 25,000 satisfied customers, Fashion Optical Displays maintains the innovative spirit that was responsible for starting the company over 30 years ago.
